Interesting facts from Chapter 11 of "Expand Your Reach:Finding Significance in an Insignificant Place by Randy Valimont, PH.D.

Recent missions statistics, as of 2006, tell us the following:

* Almost 6.6 billion people live on the earth.

* 1.2 billion people live on 23 cents a day.

* 2 billion people have no electricity.

* 80 percent of all people live in substandard housing.

* 1 billion people are without safe drinking water.

* Every 16 seconds someone dies of hunger.

* 57 million people died in 2006.

* 10.5 million of those were children under the age of 5.

* 14 million were orphaned because of HIV?AIDS.

* 2 million children have died because of armed conflict during the last 10 years.

Meanwhile:

* $8 billion was spent on cosmetics in America in 2005.

* $11 billion was spent on ice cream in Europe.

* $17 billion was spent on pet food in the United States and Europe.

* $105 billion was spent on alcohol in Europe.

HOW TO PRAY FOR OUR MISSIONARIES
1.This requires commitment.
You must be committed to pray daily and as prompted by the Holy Spirit.
Be not weary in well doing, and you shall reap a great reward.

2. It’s not necessary to hurry through this list; calling each name just to get through the list.
Allow the Holy Spirit to use you and to set the pace for your prayer time.
You may not complete this list each day.

3. Pray for not only the work of the ministry they are involved in, but for them personally.
These missionaries have personal problems like you do and they need prayer for every area of
their life; emotionally, physically and financially.

4. Pray in faith.
As you pray, believe that God is working at that very moment.

5. Also,
include the mission projects as each one represents an evangelistic outreach.
